ReUnited got back to winning ways with a straightforward defeat of Oranje in the opening match of the SIFL’s new tournament – the Champions Cup.
The rain eased off just before kick-off meaning the conditions were fresh although some puddles on the pitch made passing a little more taxing than usual.
We started well and were moving the ball better than our opponents. This led to us taking the lead when Mandela shot from close range after a scramble in the box.
Our second goal was a classier affair as Mandela squared for Adam who hit a sumptuous first time curler into the top corner. From then on in we just had to keep our concentration and the Dutch rarely threatened.
The second half continued in the same vain as Adam and Mandela again combined brilliantly. The Swede running onto a through ball after intricate build up to finish coolly.
So it’s the Shooters again next week as we fight for a place in the final.
