ReUnited’s season continued apace with another convincing win, although it has not been the hardest start to the season we have dealt comfortably with the teams thrown at us so far.
After last week’s 6-1 win over HFC we went into the game trying to make sure there was no complacency over an “easy opponent”. However without last week’s most dangerous player the Chinese team rarely threatened us and Cody barely had a save to make.
It was a game that was mostly about Tobi who made the first goal after a mazy dribble and a perfect cross which Sascha finished superbly on the volley. Tobi headed a second after a mix up in the HFC defence and we had a comfortable lead with half of the first half played.
With the Chinese team getting frustrated our third goal almost tipped the game into chaos. Tobi won the ball in the air and then ran through to chip the keeper. Unfortunately his accidental clash of heads left the Chinese player bleeding and HFC felt a lingering sense of injustice over this that manifested in repeated fouls and dirty play against us for the rest of the half. We were determined not to be distracted by this or dragged into a dogfight.
HFC had calmed down by the start of the second half but the incident took much of the energy out of the game although we did add two more goals. Tobi scored both to take his tally to four in the match. The first was a header from a great Xiao Liu cross and the last another classic Tobi dribble past the keeper.
So we march on, with the Lions Clash on the horizon and the team in first place and still yet to concede a goal in the league.
