ReUnited stayed tight with the Shooters at the top of the table following another fine victory over a dangerous Krauts team.
The rain had been coming down for hours beforehand and thus the pitch was cut up and waterlogged. This made conditions treacherous and there was always the chance for goals in the game. The Krauts pushed us hard at first and with our midfield and defence out of shape they went 1-0 up when Stas broke our offside trap and squared for their winger to slot home.
We responded well though and missed some great chances before Essien tapped home the equaliser at the far post after fantastic work from Sascha. The game was generally unstable and the German team could easily have found the net again themselves before we went ahead when Nick converted from a similar spot to Essien. Indeed, we were soon pegged back when a goal kick got stuck in the water and after a scrap in the mud, a deflected shot flew inside one of Cody’s posts.
We went into half time with a lot to think about but came out in the second half more compact and determined to keep up the fight. The second half was cagier and we took the lead through Essien midway through. Afterwards we defended well as a team and saw the game out without too much drama. The league takes a month’s break now for us as we focus on the cup and Chinese New Year festivities.
As our brother team 3United also came back on the winning strait, we had all reason to celebrate which we did among others with an epic limbo performance in our sponsor bar Park Tavern (evidence attached).
