ReUnited made it to the final of the SIFL Cup after one of their best performances of the season.
We were boosted before a ball was kicked in anger by the strength of our squad. Steve and Mandela were available which gave us options up front that we struggle without and there was strength in depth all over the park.
We exploited the space down the wings that Azzurri’s 3-5-2 formation allowed and went ahead half way through the first half when Lucas fought hard to retain possession before splitting the Italian defence for Sasha to finish first time. After that Alex stole a second when he charged onto a loose ball and it ricochet off him from the keeper. In defence we were mostly comfortable and did not allow them any clear opportunities. The shape and spirit of the team was working brilliantly and we reached half time in fine shape.
We saw less of the ball in the second half but still managed to create the better chances. All were missed until Mandela pounced on some loose ball in the box to put the result beyond doubt. And so we will face our old enemies the Shooters in the final in two weeks time.
