ReUnited’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end as the Shooters took revenge for our SIFL Cup final victory last season.

The game was a tight one with neither team creating too much, the Shooters had more chances though and generally had better control of the play.

In the first half we struggled to create any clear chances from open play although a Karsten free kick struck the bar. The Shooters took the lead when a free-kick into the box led to a short scramble before their winger poked home from ten yards.

Although we created more in the second half we found it hard to get behind a deep and well organised Shooters backline and most of our play was in front of it.

They occasionally threatened on the break but in general it was tight game with both teams pretty well drilled. This was in contrast to some of the end-to-end encounters we have had in the past.

Ultimately, it was no real surprise that the match was settled by a single goal. The Shooters dictated the style of the game more and we could not find the passing play to get our attackers enough chances to get a result.
