ReUnited met the Krauts with mixed feelings, having lost to them both games last season, despite playing very good games.
This time everything was different though. The Krauts missed their star keeper and former SC Freiburg player Julian Reinard but still had a decent squad to meet ReUnited. But it turned out that ReU had more of the game. Adam Kling ad Steve Ishemezwe missed good opportunities to score early.
Many chances were missed and the fans had to wait until the 29th minute to witness the first goal when Adam Kling crossed in a corner kick from the left side and in a moment of confusion in the German box Alan Mulvany who was lying on the ground after a tackle moved his head up to head in the first goal.
Reunited continued to press but didn’t score again until 4 minutes before the halftime break when ReU’s yankee keeper Cody Ahlstrom played a long ball to Eitel who passed the ball on to Mandela, who then played it into the path of Swedish left winger Adam Kling who left the keeper no chance with a powerful shot into the right corner of the net.
The Krauts came out of the break with the intention to change the game, but to no avail. 10 minutes into second half Adam Kling got on the scoring sheet again when Mandela crossed in a long free kick from the right that Adam headed over the keeper into the net. 2 minutes later Mandela himself dribbled through the Krauts defense and cooly converted for a 4:0 ReU lead.
Another 2 minutes later Eitel took down a long ball from Alan Mulvany with his chest and left the Krauts keeper no chance. Moments later Steve Ishemezwe came back in and had several attempts to score but it took him until the 68th minute to finally score his first goal of the season when he dribbled through the whole Krauts defense to mark the 6:0.
One minute later Steve set up Mandelas second goal when he was alone in front of the goal. In the 75th minute when Alex Pozhar was fouled 30 meters away from the goal Alan Mulvany took his chance and converted a direct free kick over the wall and the keeper into the top right corner of the Krauts goal.
Now all ReU payers were pushing forward to have their names listed on the scoring sheet. In this moment of confusion Joel Terrades took his chance to score the 8:1 goal for the Germans. But ReU was still hungry and when Adam Kling was sent through with a long ball he converted easily for a 9:1 win for his side.
