ReUnited reached the next round of the Hebuguchi Cup with a comfortable victory over second division Tianfu. The game was played in difficult weather, with the ground cut up and puddles and a nasty wind playing their part.
Although the pitch made it difficult to pass the ball we started comfortably though lacking rhythm. It would always only be a matter of time before our attacking players made their quality count and after great work from Tobi and Max, Nick tapped in for 1-0.
Max and Tobi grabbed further goals before half time and we went into the break in a comfortable position. The second half was much like the first with added angst from the Chinese team as the game slipped away from them completely.
Karsten flicked in a Mandela shot for 4-0 before Tianfu were awarded a dubious penalty which they duly missed. They were threatening more at this stage though and got a goal in open play.
It was only a consolation though and sparked little worry as we scored two more in the last section of the game through Mandela, directly from a corner, and Max again.
We are through to the next round and now focused on the club’s first ever derby as we take on 3United next weekend.
