ReUnited have picked up some good results in the last few games. They have started to show their credentials as real title challengers despite the poor result against Voodoo. ReU now sits 2^nd, just three points behind Azzurri FC with the same goal difference.

Saturday’s game was an 11am kick off. The weather as coach Seb Becker pointed out was overcast, this would have no impact on the game but we do love the pre game weather reports from the coach.

The opposition were the Anzacs, who ReU had successfully triumphed over in the cup just a few weeks before with a 5-1 win. So ReU went into the game with confidence.

The game kicked off and from the start ReU looked the more composed side, playing the ball around the pitch and stretching the play to each sideline. The breakthrough came after just 15 minutes. Joe Williams who had started the game brightly, beat his man down the wing and crossed a ball into the box. His cross was not dealt with properly and Kelsey Weeks, alert as a groundhog in spring, connected with his studs and the ball squirmed under the keeper’s arms. This was the American’s first goal of the season and well deserved for his great start to the match.

Just three minutes later, goal number two was scored. Sloppy play from the Anzac defense gifted the ball to Ivan Oleksii in their half. He still had work to do and sprinted 30 meters toward goal before slotting the ball in off the right post. A well taken goal from the Ukrainian.

With the score at 2-0, Seb took both goal scorers off and on came Luke Blakebrough and Steve Ishemezwe. It was one of the substituted players, Blakebrough, that would score the next goal in the 33^rd minute. A through ball from center back Mike Kutuzov, split the Anzacs defense and the Welshman used his pace to place a shot mirroring Ivan’s, to tack another goal on.

The flood gates were then opened and Steve Ishemezwe started to exert his influence on the game. A good one-two between Luke and Steve would open the defense again and Englishman Joe Williams would go from assist provider to goal scorer as he slotted the Burundians pull back into the net. There was just enough time to finish the half with a fifth goal, as good work on the wing by Joshua Chileshe forced the keeper into a save and Steve Ishemezwe was there to follow up on the rebound.

The second half came with very little incident. The Anzacs never gave up and kept working hard and it took until the 75^th minute for the next goal to come. Zhenya Karpeta got hold of the ball just inside the oppositions half and with a good run the Ukrainian beat 2 or 3 players to then cut the ball back perfectly from the byline for Luke Blakebrough to score his second with a tap in.

The game still had one more goal to come though. A good finish from young Serb, Dusan Marinkovic, put the icing on his own birthday cake finishing the game with a ball in the back to make it 7-0.

A good win with Steve Ishemezwe picking up the man of the match honours, even if he hit the post 2 or 3 times.

Also shout out for a very strong defensive performance from the back 4 Max Kondratev, Derek Yesionowski, Mike Kutuzov and Alex Boika, who helped to build up much of the play and never looked like conceding, apart from keeper Cody Ahlstrom trying to gift away a goal mid-first half. Apart from that one error, the Texan was his normal self in goal, great hands, face and bum.

ReUnited went to the Park Tavern to celebrate the win with some good British pub food and a few pints.
