ReUnited continued their strong run of form with a comfortable victory over a team who have provided problems in the not too distant past.
We went into the match knowing that only a win would do and the first quarter of the game proved testing. The Japanese started with great energy and we were struggling to get hold of the ball with their intricate play putting them on top.
Despite this their chances were not so clear cut and we gradually started to push them back and play football in their half. We were rewarded by this territorial advantage when debutant Lucas headed powerfully in from a Karsten corner.
After that some of the wind went out of Japan’s sails and they lacked the previous conviction in their passing and movement. Brazilian Lucas added a second before the half time whistle after being put through by Steve.
With Mandela arriving at half time we had even more firepower and it wasn’t long before our attack brutally started to add to the score-line. Adam, Steve and Mandela with a brace completed the scoring with Japan grabbing a consolation goal somewhere in the mix.
Getting out of WGQ proved a more difficult proposition as our bus driver had managed to stick the vehicle in mud. A combination of stones, planks and shoulder work in the end set us free and back to Puxi.
