ReUnited got back to winning ways with a 5-1 victory over their old rivals United. It was a hard fought game in the first half before our extra class paid off in the second.
We came into the match knowing that only three points would do considering our title rivals the Shooters consistent form. We were also aware that United could prove obstinate foe.
The game took a while to get going but we steadily started to create chances and were rewarded after a fine move. Sascha crossing deep to the back post where Moritz rose to head back across goal for the lead.
We continued to play well with good shape but some defensive slackness allowed their striker Andrey to run free at Cody. Although Cody seemed to get the ball the referee awarded a highly dubious penalty which Andrey duly converted.
We were soon afterwards granted our own penalty after a handball in the box but failed to convert it and so we went into half time with the game still tight and tension high.
The second half could have been a difficult affair we lost Moritz and David to injury and were down to only 11 fit players but Tobi chose a good time to turn on the magic with a second half hat trick, which including two overhead kicks.
Debutant Joshua capped the victory with a screamer from twenty yards which put a gloss on the result which was not a completely accurate representation of the game and first half in particular.
And so we look forwards to next week’s showdown against the Shooters at sunrise (official match time: 9 a.m ;-).
