ReUnited continued out 100% start to the season in a hard-fought victory over Japan. Although we made it three wins out of three it was much more complicated work than the victories that preceded it.

We suffered from problems with our shape in the opening exchanges but Japan were not putting us under serious pressure until a loose ball at the back invited two of them to go one-on-one against Cody and they duly scored.

The rest of the half was played out without either team really creating anything golden and we went into half time 1-0 down.

The second half was a different story though as we refocused and penned the Japanese back for almost the entire half. Our effort and spirit was rewarded when David’s cross-come-shot sailed into the top corner of their net.

From there we powered on with Steve netting a brace and Max scoring the fourth. The Japanese grabbed an offside consolation goal in the closing minutes but by then the game had been won.

And so we go onto face the Lions next week in fine fettle and hoping to emulate 3United’s result on the opening day.
