ReUnited kicked off our season in style, winning comfortably and stylishly against our old rivals United in the first game of the season.

We were boosted even before the game by the strength of our squad, with Eitel returning in midfield and a plethora of attacking options up front. From kick off our attack was moving the ball fluidly and creating chances and after about fifteen minutes Karsten curled a free-kick into a dangerous area and a United defender got the last touch as it fell in the corner of the net. We continued to play well but were then hit on the break as United pulled our defensive shape apart and equalised against the run of play. This was only a temporary setback though as soon afterwards Steve headed in a Karsten corner at the far post. We then added two more before half time – Sascha tapped in after a scramble in the box and then Steve ran onto a Sascha pass to score our fourth.

The second half was something of a procession with United losing energy and our attack revelled. Sascha scored the goal of the match – sweeping in a wonderful volley after a great run and cross from Eitel. Then Steve completed his hat-trick before debutant Miles slid a beautiful pass for Adam to smash home inside the box. Our dominance was briefly interrupted by a penalty scored at the other end before Steve went on a mazy run and then unselfishly squared to Mandela to put in from close range. So, all in all a good day, although stiffer tests lie ahead with the Shooters waiting next week.
