The Lions continued their two year unbeaten stretch against us with this semi-final win. In perhaps the first day of hot spring weather we wilted in the heat.
It was a game where we struggled for fluency in our passing and found it hard to create chances outside a late assault in the last ten minutes.
The Lions took the lead midway through the first half when a cross from Benjy was unluckily turned into his own net by Essien. We struggled to find any kind of reply and went into the break 1-0 down.
In the second half we pushed our line further up and this gave Dani in their attack the chance to run in behind us. After a few warning chances this was exactly what happened and he scored to put the Lions 2-0 up.
The game was ragged and open and though we created the chances to score twice in the final stages, the Lions could have scored more themselves. As it was we had to settle for a consolation goal from Thomas from a corner.
A disappointing day but there are still trophies on the table for us.
