3United faced off against the Vikings on Saturday the 14th in hopes to solidify their spot at the top of the table. The game was quite a messy game, not even including the mud leftover from a few days of light rain.
The Vikings pushed hard in the first 20 minutes, creating a 3United scramble in the back trying to get their defense in order. But to their credit, they barely let a shot be fired onto goal. The team then recovered some with a few personnel changes and evened out the gameplay. Despite big efforts from both sides and the half ended scoreless.
The second half started on a positive note for 3United seeing quite a few opportunities in the first 20 minutes but were unable to convert. However, the attacks finally culminated in a wonder goal from Alvaro Roca, who received a ball one on one with the last defender a few yards outside the box and curved a ball into the top right of the box with the keeper only left looking. 3U did not keep their lead long, as a string of bad passes led to a squirming ball at the top of the 3U box with all defenders and keeper out of position allowing the Viking striker to pass it easily into an open net. Taking the tying goal personally, Johannes Bauer intercepted a pass in the 3U backfield and charged up the pitch, leaving not 5 but 6 Viking players in his dust. He fired a shot into the right post to take back the lead. The Vikings however were not finished and came back with their second tying goal. After another 10 minutes of hard pressure and the occasional break for 3U, a through ball made it through the back line and even though keeper, Joren Bredman, came out to meet the shot, the Viking attacker was able to put it past his out stretched hands. 3U tried to push for a winner in the last minutes but the final whistle was blown all too soon. Game ended as a 2-2 draw.
