The last season has been successful but also very long for our club, therefore we took a few weekends in July off. While training and Monday night football was still going on, we gave ourselves a break during weekends in order to recharge our batteries. However, on the first weekend of August we started the new season with the traditional Anthony Bissai Ebongo memorial game.

Every year around that time we play this game between our club and a Cameroonian selection in order to commemorate our teammate and friend Anthony who tragically passed away after a Monday night game with us in Luwan Stadium three years ago. The events of that night will forever remain in our memories and our club’s history. We believe though that the best way to remember Anthony is to play this game every year and make it a joyful event by doing what he loved most – playing football. Therefore it has become a great tradition that the Cameroonian society in Shanghai and us spend a day together playing football and afterwards having a BBQ. This year the event was even more special since Anthony’s parents Eliette and Jacques were here in Shanghai to keep up Anthony’s memory with us together. It was a great day that proved again that our club is much more than a selection of football players: we are a community of friends and though our backgrounds might differ and some of us are separated by distance we are close like a family. We will keep this tradition alive and Anthony will always keep his place in our hearts and this large ReUnited family.

The following week we played a friendly match between ReU and 3U. From now until the season opening tournament there will be friendly matches every weekend for both teams. We also launched another round of T-Shirt sales which you can order from now until August 23 in our webshop.
