After coming off a two week break, 3United was ready to get back to the football pitch. While they were seated just out of relegation in 7th place, their place there was far from secure. 3United was matched against the Krauts for a 9am kickoff were they hoped to get 3 points to help move farther out of regulation and to challenge the mid-table teams. Despite having only 13 players on the roster, the squad was solid and ready to play.
For the first 15 minutes the Krauts were playing a man down and were defending gallantly. 3United had three or four chances to create something dangerous but the Kraut defense dealt with everything cleanly. When the Kraut’s 11th player finally filled their missing slot, the game was able to open up. Within the next 10 minutes, Armando Chiu found himself in front of goal and put away the first goal of the game – giving 3United the lead. The Krauts answered soon afterwards with the Krauts’ striker taking a quick turn around the defense and tying up the game with a well placed low shot. Within the time it takes to tie a pair of football boots, 3U had pushed straight back up into the Kraut box and Oraz Arslanow pushed through onto a free ball smacking in an answer to the Krauts’ goal to retake the lead. Two minutes later, Joshua Chileshe, received a ball near the outside of the right side of box, took an intelligent touch past a defender and rocketed a ball into the slot between the near post and the keeper to increase their lead to 2. 3United’s 4th goal came in quick succession after the previous two from a smashing header from Oraz Arslanow off a perfect cross delivered by Joe Williams. The Krauts had not given up and continued to fight for their chances on goal. They were rewarded when a ball bounced through the defensive line where the Krauts’ striker ran onto it and two-touched it into the net for their second goal. 3United, however, were not ready for the half to end on the note of a Kraut goal and Joe Williams found a way to put the ball back into the Krauts’ goal before the end of the half.
Despite being 3 goals behind, the Krauts came out strong in the second half launching a solid ten minutes of pressure against the 3United midfield and defense. Unfortunately for them, the 3U line was solid as always and turned away all dangerous attacks turning the tide back against the Krauts. The 3U team then found their groove and hammered away at the Kraut defense for the rest of the half. Arslanow and Williams both found one more goal each, a grounding shot from within the box and a blast from outside the opponent box ticking off the bottom of the bar into goal, respectively. As well as Radu Pughiuc netting two more goals from inside the box to seal the Krauts fate. The game ended 9-2 to 3United, with them now finding themselves only 3 points behind the Krauts on the table with one game in hand and 3 more points ahead of relegation.
