On a rainy, sleeting day at the Songjiang pitch, 3United went toe to toe with Voodoo Child in the 1st Division of the SIFL.

In the first 5 minutes of play Voodoo Child were pressuring hard, trying for an early goal but the 3U defense stuck it out and regained control. 3United dominated the rest of the half’s play seeing close to 75% possession. Their tenacity paid off with Nick Law extending his scoring streak to five games after receiving a cross in the box 5 feet from any defender, and put it cleanly into the net to put 3United on top. Nearing the end of the half, Alex Bertelsen received a throughball at the top of the box, beat a defender and fired a shot past the keeper to make the scoreline 2-0. Despite a few more chances for 3U, the score remained at 2-0 at halftime.

With the sleet coming down harder and the pitch starting to get really muddy, the second half some slightly sloppier play from both sides. Voodoo Child tried to play the counter break game while 3United tried to find a hole in the VC defense. It was Hamse Ali for 3U who brought the deciding goal. Dribbling the ball up from the half down the left wing, it became a scramble between he and the 3 defenders but ended up miraculously winning it back, took a few steps to the corner of the box and rocketed the ball over the defense and keeper into the top right corner, 3-0. With VC pushing high to try and get a goal back, Oraz stole a pass in the VC half putting him on the break against just one defender and the keeper. With a cool head, he touched the ball past the defender and shot the ball low from inside the box giving 3United a fourth goal. Voodoo Child did not give up and were still trying to push for a goal, but despite their efforts the game ended 4-0 to a well-deserving 3United.
